Does the X570E Taichi Lite Work With an RTX 5070 Ti?

ASRock has never built a board called the X570E Taichi Lite. The name fuses two separate products: the X570 Taichi, an AM4 board from 2019, and the Taichi Lite range, which exists only on AM5 as the X670E Taichi Lite and the X870E Taichi Lite. An RTX 5070 Ti works in all of them. PCIe is backward compatible in both directions, and the card's 300 W board power, per NVIDIA's specification page, sits inside every one of those boards' slot budgets. What differs is link speed, and the processor sets that rather than the chipset. ASRock's own specification sheet has the X570 Taichi's primary x16 slot running PCIe 4.0 with a Ryzen 3000 or 5000 desktop chip and PCIe 3.0 at x8 with a Ryzen 3000G. Identifying the board takes two minutes. Guessing wrong costs a return shipment.

Find out what board is actually in the case

The model name is printed on the PCB in white silkscreen, usually between the top graphics slot and the memory. Three sources should agree before anyone buys a part around the answer.

  1. Read the silkscreen with a torch. Watch the suffixes: ASRock also sold an X570 Taichi Razer Edition, and the AM5 range carries both a Taichi and a Taichi Lite at each chipset.
  2. Enter UEFI setup at boot. ASRock's main page prints the model name beside the installed firmware version.
  3. In Windows, PowerShell returns the same string with `Get-CimInstance Win32_BaseBoard`. The original invoice settles whatever the first two leave open.

A builder who calls the board an "X570E Taichi Lite" is reading a memory rather than a label, and that memory has merged two machines.

The "E" in X670E and X870E is AMD's marker for PCIe 5.0 on the graphics slot, which is why no X570E exists: the 500-series chipsets predate that naming. ASRock's X870E Taichi Lite page lists two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots running x16 or x8/x8; the X570 Taichi page lists three PCIe 4.0 x16 slots.

The processor sets the slot speed

Both boards carry the same warning in different words.

ASRock's specification for the X570 Taichi splits the graphics slot by processor family. With Vermeer or Matisse, meaning Ryzen 5000 and 3000 desktop chips, the top slot runs PCIe 4.0 x16. With Cezanne, Renoir or Pinnacle Ridge it drops to PCIe 3.0 x16. With Picasso, the Ryzen 3000G parts, it runs PCIe 3.0 at x8 only, and ASRock adds that the board then supports a single card in either the top slot or the chipset-fed x4 slot.

The AM5 boards carry an equivalent clause: the primary slot runs Gen5 x16 with 9000 and 7000 series processors, Gen4 x8 with 8000 series Phoenix 1 parts, and Gen4 x4 with Phoenix 2 parts. An 8500G in the newer board gives the card a narrower link than a 5800X in the six-year-old one. The chipset on the box settles almost nothing by itself.

None of this stops the card working. TechPowerUp's PCI-Express scaling tests on Blackwell put the gap between Gen5 x16 and Gen4 x16 near the limits of measurement, with Gen3 x16 costing a low single-digit percentage. The Gen4 x4 link an APU produces is the one configuration worth avoiding.

Power: the numbers and where they disagree

NVIDIA's specification page for the RTX 5070 Ti gives a total graphics power of 300 W and a required system power of 750 W, measured on a test system built around a Ryzen 9 9950X. For supplementary power it lists "2x PCIe 8-pin cables (adapter in box) OR 300 W or greater PCIe Gen 5 cable."

The 16-pin 12V-2x6 connector introduced in PCIe CEM 5.1 and Intel's ATX v3.1 specification, published 13 September 2023, carries up to 600 W over twelve power pins, with four sense pins encoding the tier the card may draw. Grounding both sense signals authorises 600 W; grounding one authorises 300 W. NVIDIA asks for the 300 W tier, half the connector's ceiling. The RTX 5090 draws 575 W through the same connector, roughly 96 percent of its rating, which is why melted-connector reports cluster on the larger card.

Sources disagree on the power supply. NVIDIA says 750 W; ASUS specifies 850 W for its ROG Strix version of the same GPU. The reasonable reading is that 750 W is the floor for a modest system and 850 W covers a factory-overclocked card in a loaded one.

Aris Mpitziopoulos, chief executive of the power supply certification body Cybenetics and owner of Hardware Busters, gave PC Gamer a five-word answer in February 2025: "Do not buy adapters or extenders." He drew a distinction that matters for anyone reusing an older unit. "All 12V-2x6 cables should be able to deliver 600W (or up to 55A) since these cables are electrically compatible for all vendors," he told the site, adding that some supplies have no native 12V-2x6 socket and split the cable into two 8-pin plugs using proprietary wiring. A cable from a different supply may fit and still be wrong.

Measure the case before the card arrives

NVIDIA released no Founders Edition of the RTX 5070 Ti, so every card on sale is a partner design and the dimensions vary by more than most cases absorb. MSI publishes 303 x 121 x 49 mm for its Ventus 3X OC at two slots. ASUS publishes 332 x 147.3 x 64 mm for the ROG Strix OC at 3.2 slots. That is 29 mm and more than a full slot between two cards carrying the same GPU.

NVIDIA's SFF-Ready guideline gives usable ceilings: 304 mm long, 151 mm tall, 50 mm deep, with the height figure explicitly including the bend radius of the power cable. A compatible case must offer at least 312 mm of length, 154.5 mm of height and 2.5 slots. A 16-pin cable leaving the top of a card needs somewhere to turn before it meets the side panel, and a panel closing on a bent connector is the fault that produces heat.

TechPowerUp and Club386 both noted that the EZ PCIe Release on the standard X870E Taichi is absent from the Lite, meaning a hand reaching under a 332 mm card for the retention clip.

Firmware, before the card goes in

Update the BIOS while the old graphics card is still fitted. ASRock's own release notes for the X570 Taichi make the case: version 3.40, dated 24 August 2020, added Ryzen 5000 support; version 4.00, dated 25 January 2021, added the Resizable-BAR option and a semi-passive chipset fan curve; version 5.00, dated 20 October 2022, is described only as "Improve GPU compatibility for GeForce RTX 40 series." A board that needed a firmware change to get along with one new NVIDIA generation is worth bringing current before the next one arrives. The latest listing is 5.80, dated 2 April 2026.

Two ASRock cautions apply to the flash itself. Reaching Ryzen 5000 support requires a Matisse processor fitted at the time, and owners on Pinnacle Ridge or Picasso are told to use the BIOS Flashback button, which writes firmware from a USB stick without processor cooperation. In UEFI, enable Above 4G Decoding first, then Re-Size BAR Support, which stays greyed out until the first is set.

When it will not display, the cause is rarely the board

The word builders reach for when a new card shows nothing is "incompatibility." The symptom is real and the diagnosis is usually wrong, the way cloudy spectacle lenses get blamed on scratches when the coating is what has gone. Work through the cheap causes in order.

A monitor cable still plugged into the motherboard's HDMI or USB4 output gives a black screen on any system whose processor has no integrated graphics, and a working but slow desktop on one that does. The 12V-2x6 plug must go in until the latch clicks and no gold shows at the housing. The card has to seat far enough for the slot's retention tab to spring up on its own. The X570 Taichi carries a two-digit Dr. Debug readout naming the stage a failed boot stopped at, which turns guesswork into a lookup in the manual. Clearing CMOS resolves much of the rest, since a saved profile from the previous card survives the swap.

Already bought the wrong combination

Four checks decide whether something goes back, and they rank by cost. Case clearance against the card's published length, height and slot count is a hard limit that sends the card back. A supply with no 12V-2x6 socket and no bundled adapter is a supply problem, answered by NVIDIA's 2x 8-pin adapter or a new unit, never by a third-party extender. Wattage under 750 W is a supply problem too. A processor that narrows the link, meaning an APU on either platform, costs performance and blocks nothing. Only the first is a dead end.

After it boots

Remove the old driver with a clean installation rather than writing over it. Open GPU-Z and read the Bus Interface line, which should report the link the board's specification promises for the installed processor; its render test button forces the link out of idle so the reading is honest. Run a demanding title for thirty minutes while watching GPU temperature, hotspot temperature and board power draw in HWiNFO64. A card holding 300 W, well under its thermal limit, in a case whose panel closed without pressing the power cable, is finished. Confirm last that Resizable BAR reads as enabled in the NVIDIA Control Panel, since a board reporting it off is one where Above 4G Decoding was never switched on.

Is the ASRock X570 Taichi still a good motherboard?

It remains a capable AM4 board. ASRock lists support for Ryzen 2000 through 5000 desktop and G-Series processors, PCIe 4.0 on the primary graphics slot with Ryzen 3000 or 5000 chips, and eight SATA ports. It cannot accept AM5 processors or DDR5 memory, and its X570 chipset uses an active fan.
